Voronoi is a young perfume house from Moscow. The name is a reference to the Voronoi diagram, a method developed by a Russian scientist, George Voronoi at the beginning of 20th century.

With this diagram you can map some space in a special way: if you have points of reference, the Voronoi method will enable you to find such areas around those points that are closest to a particular point but not others. Complicated? Not really and this method is widely used. For example, school catchment areas: that would be an area around a school which is closest to that school but any other school in the neighborhood.

This choice of a name for a perfume house can be interpreted in many ways: a perfume as reference point that will appeal to a group of people, but not others. Or if you make an individual that point of reference, there’s that aesthetic choices space that is closest to him or her but not other people. Voronoi is also a name for color: 'raven black'. Which could be a hint at the minimalist approach and that room for imagination that the house leaves you (who knows what lingers in the dark?).

The style of Voronoi is minimalist niche. They consciously avoid shock that often accompanies creative perfumery and tone the level of challenge and complexity down but at the same time do not compromise creativity. If it’s a gothic forest, it will be softened in the balsamic vanilla in the background and also will be made of several recognizable scented references to that idea (moss, pine, shade). If it’s an oud perfume it will have all the nice things an oud aromatic profile has to offer: dried fruit, gentle smoke, amber.
