Dominique Ropion is known for technically exacting compositions that give complex materials striking presence and balance. His work includes Carnal Flower and Portrait of a Lady for Frédéric Malle. In Iris Shot, he explores the rhizome rather than a conventional floral impression, contrasting iris with aldehydic brightness, almond softness and dry woods.

Collaborators

Céline Verleure, Olfactive Studio’s founder and creative director, renewed her earlier creative partnership with Dominique Ropion for the Sepia collection, framing the project around photography. Roberto Greco supplied the botanical photographs that inspired the trilogy, including the iris image behind Iris Shot.

Olfactive Studio’s story

Olfactive Studio brings contemporary photography into the perfume-making process: an image becomes an emotional brief, not merely packaging decoration. Founded by Céline Verleure, the house gives perfumers freedom to translate visual impressions into scent and approaches its fragrances without rigid gender divisions.

Iris Shot’s concept

Iris Shot belongs to Sepia’s second trilogy, conceived around Roberto Greco’s botanical photographs. The theme, From Roots to Petals, moves through iris rhizome, violet leaf and rose petals. Here, Ropion focuses on the iris’s underground character, using spice and aldehydes to illuminate its rooty texture before settling it into woods.

Extra info

Sepia’s sienna-colored leather covering and ochre/copper-toned fittings echo the warm colors of old photographs. The collection is presented at 20% perfume concentration. Within its botanical trilogy, Iris Shot represents the rhizome rather than the flower’s petals.
