‘I fly
In an intergalactic space
Where gods are dancing…’
From "Neptune’s Flight" by Marco Pesatori, astrologer & poet
***
Nettuno is a frozen rose floating amid nebulous musks, blue ginger, translucent blooms and soft embracing leather. Powdered particles of earthy iris and vetiver drift like ash over this perfumed flight of fate and stellar protection.
Perfumer: Amelie Bourgeois.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Nettuno suits a quiet, absorbed afternoon at a worktable, with sketches spread out and conversation kept close. Its cool rose and powdery iris suggest composure rather than sweetness, while soft leather gives that inward-looking mood a tactile warmth.
How to wear
Try Nettuno in mild or cool weather, when its powdery iris and soft leather can feel enveloping without becoming heavy. Start with one or two sprays on skin and let the extrait settle before adding more. A restrained application keeps the cool floral impression in balance with its earthy, woody depth.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to cool florals, powdery iris and supple leather rather than sugary rose. Nettuno will appeal to wearers who enjoy earthy root notes, musky abstraction and a floral composition with a distinctly woody foundation.
Release year
2016
The nose
Amélie Bourgeois is a co-founder of Flair, the independent Parisian perfume studio. Her work explores unusual textures and contrasts, bringing an expressive, experimental approach to niche perfumery. In Nettuno, her complex rose accord interprets a brief of cosmic dust and reflected light, set against powdery iris, ginger and soft leather.
Collaborators
Mendittorosa founder Stefania Squeglia shaped Nettuno’s creative concept and gave Bourgeois a brief built around cosmic dust and a planetary mirror. Astrologer and poet Marco Pesatori collaborated with Squeglia on its inspiration; his poem Neptune’s Flight provided the imaginative starting point for the fragrance.
Mendittorosa’s story
Mendittorosa treats perfume and its presentation as a complete artwork, connecting scent with personal expression and inner experience. Founded by Stefania Squeglia, the independent house favors small-scale artisanal production, collaboration with Italian artists and original concepts over trends, choosing perfumers for their ability to interpret a vision.
Nettuno’s concept
Part of the Talismans collection, Nettuno takes its inspiration from Neptune, astrology and Marco Pesatori’s poem Neptune’s Flight. Squeglia conceived it as an invitation to recognize one’s artistic potential. Images of cosmic dust and a planetary mirror became a cool rose composition, with blue ginger and powdery iris translating its celestial imagery into scent.
Extra info
Mosaic artist Luisa Degli Specchi creates the hand-cut mirror decoration on Nettuno’s heavy French-made glass bottles. Each bottle is individually decorated and finished with a wooden cap painted silver, making the reflective surface part of the fragrance’s concept.
