Over millions of years, persistent rainwater gnaws at porous limestone, carving out karsts deep within the earth. Carried in droplets, sediment grows upon itself, forming misshapen statues. The stalagmites and stalactites reach for one another, patient in the knowledge that one day they will meet. No sunlight breaches these cavern walls, but something has. Somewhere in time, a family of olms, aquatic salamanders, wandered into the limestone cave and never re-emerged. Generations in darkness have stripped the olms of colour and sight. Pale and blind they wait, sometimes for years, for the subterranean river to deliver a meal of larvae or shrimp to their murky abode.
Close your eyes and follow Zoologist Olm into a cavern of sensory delight. Aromachemicals float in mineral water, flowing into a dewy limestone passage that shimmers with algae and amber, stirring up earthy sandalwood and musks. Olm is not seen. Olm is felt. Let this unique fragrance awaken something deep within you.

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
A quiet afternoon indoors while rain darkens the stone outside: Olm suits that inward, unhurried register. Its watery minerals and algae suggest damp surfaces, while soft woods and musks bring the impression closer to the body—unusual without asking for attention.
How to wear
Try Olm in mild spring or autumn weather, when its cool mineral character can sit against the warmth of skin. Begin with one or two sprays on the wrists or forearms, allowing space for the watery opening and softer woody-musky texture to develop before adding more.
Who it’s for
For wearers drawn to mineral aquatics, abstract woods and modern aroma materials rather than citrus-led freshness. Its algae, limestone and musky textures suit a taste for atmospheric perfumes that feel cool and unconventional without relying on overt sweetness.
Release year
2025, wider release 2026
The nose
Spyros Drosopoulos is the perfumer behind Olm and Zoologist’s Koala. The founder of independent perfume house Baruti, he is known for experimental compositions that combine unexpected textures with a strong sense of atmosphere. Olm brings that approach to an aquatic-mineral landscape, using modern aroma materials alongside sandalwood, amber and musks.
Collaborators
Zoologist founder and creative director Victor Wong helped shape the atmospheric brief, suggesting mineral, watery and rain-on-earth effects when Drosopoulos proposed another collaboration. The cave-dwelling olm emerged as the animal around which to develop that concept.
Zoologist’s story
Zoologist translates animals and their habitats into distinctive olfactory portraits, embracing strangeness rather than smoothing it away. Its fragrances explore behaviour, environment and texture through independent perfumers’ interpretations. The house replaces natural animal-derived musks with synthetic alternatives for ethical reasons.
Olm’s concept
Olm imagines the submerged limestone habitat of a pale, blind salamander rather than the animal’s own smell. Its concept follows water into a sunless cavern, where mineral surfaces, algae and damp passages become an abstract composition of watery accords, soft amber, sandalwood and musks.
Extra info
Zoologist lists Olm’s notes together rather than dividing them into top, heart and base stages. Cashmeran and Iso E Super appear by name alongside limestone, algae and oily musks. The official bottle contains 60 mL at a published concentration of 16%.
