The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

Trained under Pierre Bourdon, his work includes Amouage Interlude Black Iris and Royal Tobacco. For Seahorse, he brought an unconventional marine brief into balance, setting algae against florals and aromatic herbs.
Collaborators
Victor Wong, Zoologist’s founder and creative director, developed the concept with Julien Rasquinet. He proposed a seaweed-centered aquatic, connected it to seahorses’ tail-anchoring behavior, and wanted florals to challenge the traditionally masculine framing of marine fragrances.
Zoologist’s story
Zoologist translates animals, their habitats and their behavior into perfumes that can be playful, beautiful or deliberately challenging. Rather than simply reproducing animal smells, the Toronto house uses scent to explore the natural world through unexpected materials and contrasts, replacing animal-derived ingredients with synthetic alternatives.
Seahorse (Limited Edition)’s concept
Seahorse began with Victor Wong’s wish for an aquatic built around seaweed. Early trials were intensely algae-rich, reminding him of Hong Kong dried-seafood markets; Rasquinet subsequently introduced florals to rebalance the composition. Seahorses’ unusual reproductive roles helped shape the brief, while the finished story places their courtship within a sunlit coral garden.

Despite its ambergris note, the fragrance contains no animal products: the ambergris effect is a synthetic accord.
