The frail glow of the waning moon dwindles until only impenetrable blackness persists across the grasslands. A herd of deer venture tentatively into the expanse. Though their long necks dip to feed, their dainty legs remain tense, poised to flee. Nearby, gleaming gold eyes pierce the gloom, and silky ears stiffen, attuned to the softest tremor. The tiger advances haltingly, intent on its prey, anticipating a moment of vulnerability. In a seamless motion, it leaps and descends upon its victim, its razor-sharp fangs sinking deep into the deer’s throat. As the deer’s life fades, its herd is already gone, evaporating into the night.
Like the thrill inspired by a low, rumbling growl cutting through silence, Zoologist Tiger couples danger with majesty. Vetiver’s earthy body is licked with stripes of kumquat, saffron and jasmine in an elegant pattern. Incense lurks at the edges, shrouded by smoky undertones of papyrus and ebony wood. Tiger arouses intrigue, putting those around you on high alert.

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Tiger suits an evening when you would rather hold your ground than fill the room with sweetness. Imagine arriving with the faint smell of damp grass still on your coat: the vetiver and carrot-seed earthiness keep that outdoor edge, while saffron and smoky woods give your presence a taut, deliberate quality.
How to wear
Try it in mild or cool weather, when the earthy vetiver and smoky woods can frame the brighter kumquat opening. Begin with one or two sprays on skin beneath clothing for a measured presence; add more only after assessing the drydown. In warm weather, use a lighter application to keep the spice and incense restrained.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to rooty vetiver, green woods and dry spice rather than sweet amber or plush florals. Tiger offers citrus brightness without becoming a conventional citrus fragrance, with carrot seeds, incense and suede adding texture for wearers who enjoy an earthy, slightly austere composition.

The nose
Cristiano Canali composed Tiger, returning to Zoologist after creating Bee in 2019. The two fragrances reveal contrasting sides of his work: Bee explores enveloping honeyed richness, while Tiger draws its character from earthy vetiver, sharply defined spice and smoky woods. Here, his composition balances citrus brightness with a darker, textured foundation.
Zoologist’s story
Founded in Toronto by Victor Wong, Zoologist translates animals’ habitats, behavior and appearance into distinctive perfume rather than literal animal smells. Its compositions welcome beauty, playfulness and discomfort in equal measure, inviting a less domesticated view of the natural world. The house uses synthetic alternatives to natural animal-derived musks for ethical reasons.
Tiger’s concept
Tiger takes its imagery from a predator stalking deer through dark grasslands. Earthy vetiver evokes the terrain, while kumquat, saffron and jasmine trace brighter accents through smoky papyrus and ebony wood. The concept rests on the tension between stillness and sudden movement, expressing the animal’s danger and majesty without attempting a literal portrait of its smell.
Extra info
Despite its extrait de parfum designation, Tiger’s official concentration is specified as 20%. Its current note pyramid includes both suede and ambrette seeds, which were absent from some early launch descriptions; that difference alone does not establish a reformulation.
