Jordi Fernández is a Spanish perfumer whose work often explores richly textured woods, spices and amber accords, drawing on his expertise in Middle Eastern perfumery. Identified as a senior perfumer at Givaudan in the brand’s interview, he approached Volcano as a balance between darkness, intensity and appeal. Its woody identity rests on the interplay of patchouli, vetiver and a strong oud accord rather than a single dominant ingredient.

Collaborators

Sara Carner collaborated with Jordi Fernández on the fragrance’s creative vision, exchanging ideas around its underlying story. Her connection between the earth’s power and the region’s volcanic landscape helped frame Volcano’s nature-led concept.

Carner Barcelona translates the Mediterranean soul into fragrances rooted in places, emotions and memories, with Barcelona at the center of its creative identity. Sara Carner’s family background in leather craftsmanship informs the house’s emphasis on workmanship, quality ingredients and tactile details, including its signature wooden caps.

Volcano’s concept

Created for the Black Collection, Volcano interprets the strength of nature and the darkness beneath the earth’s surface. Fernández sought an intense, recognizable composition that remained inviting, using layered woods, spices and resins to suggest an eruption’s heat and movement rather than a literal volcanic smell.

Extra info

Volcano’s oud is described as an accord, not a confirmed use of natural oud oil. Its official note list also identifies the origins of several materials, including Bulgarian rose, Indonesian nutmeg and patchouli, Somali frankincense and Spanish labdanum.
