August 1508, Lopud Island, Adriatic Sea

A sunny island in the Adriatic, a small harbour with stone houses and fig trees. Across the verdant Mediterranean hills sprawls an aromatic landscape of cypress stands, pine, rosemary, thyme — and olive groves with their subtle, nutty scent.

Tonnerre, originally called 1805 - the year in which Nelson both won the Battle of Trafalgar and lost his life: The year in which Sir Francis Beaufort introduced his ‘wind force scale’.

The scent imagines moments within the battle itself.  Powerful accords of smoke, gunpowder, blood and brandy combine with sea spray and a penetrating citrus note. The fragrance is singularly bold in its composition, yet ultimately refined, provocative and unique.

The green, relaxing scents of the Tuscan countryside blend with the liveliness of exotic spices. Cypress and Cinnamon, Bay and Pepper, Tomato and Cardamom leaves all dance together to create a rich, fresh, unique fragrance.

Inspired by the concepts of “green” and “freedom”, Terra Hedera evokes horseback riding on the Mongolian steppe. A green hyacinth intertwined with tenacious ivy and crisp galbanum.

The third and last of the three studies is Albatros Eau de Parfum inspired by the poem of the same name by Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867). The poem was published in the collection Les Fleurs du mal. It is indeed the second poem of the collection (first edition: 1857). It is found in the first of the books six sections, which has the title: Spleen et Idéal.
