500 years is an homage to the role of rose in Western perfumery and culture. In a way this perfume is like a Rose line on the tube map starting from the rose water of Tudor times and then going through some classic rose recipes: a chypre, oriental rose, gourmand rose. 500 years is a complex story, however it is a clever progression through nuances rather than all of them exploding all at once.

An essence whose floral and enveloping notes are rooted in myth, which plays with hypnotizing the senses like the young and beautiful Adonis against Aphrodite. Releasing the freshness of the flowers of wisteria, jasmine, geranium, damask rose, and white lily, this essence interprets and expresses the beautiful and damned Adonis, like a flower of short life that: “badly fixed to the ground and too fragile lightness owes its name to the wind and the wind just scatters its petals ”.

Enter the realm of dangerous flora, where flowers bloom hungrily and fatal nectar beckons. Beneath smooth leaves, sharp thorns await. This is nature’s exquisite revenge, where beauty becomes an irresistible danger. This fragrance opens with the peppery-lemon of elemi and bitter green artemisia. A bloody rose unfurls alongside its scent kin Egyptian geranium, their metallic facets softened by velvety osmanthus. Resin, incense and woods lends authority.

Here he offers a deceptively simple rose that plays with contrasts: dry into wet, crisp into voluptuous. In a bit of misdirection, a lean basil and mint twins with rose for an opening that suggests the rest of the journey will be straightforward. That’s until the gunpowder shows up, unfurling its metallic, cold and smoky facets. Geranium shores up the minty rose, while incense, vetiver and benzoin flicker between wood and amber. A dance of beauty and violence.

Sensual and voluptuous, Rose has a mysterious simplicity. The Eau de Parfum embodies contemporary feminity with graceful notes ans playfully unveils its fruity chords. An invitation to a walk along the Riviera as a return to the Dolce Vita.

The rarest of roses in perfumery: rose from the Taif area in Saudi Arabia. These flowers have their own unique aroma and most of the harvest stays in the country. Very few perfume houses ever get their hands on rose de Taif.

Perris did manage to secure the precious essence for their perfume and it was really worth making rose de Taif the main theme of the formula. Only a few other ingredients are used and used only to highlight the beauty of this rare perfume material.

Once you have tried rose from Taif you will be able to recognize them forever: these roses have a unique sillage, hanging in the air as a veil and they are creamier, more gentle and muskier than most other rose varieties.

The EdP option smells less metallic and more happy rose petals warmed by the sun (thank you lemon). Rose de Taif in the extrait concentration is more metallic leathery and heavier on geranium.
