Orlo
‘We have come so far, it is over.’
ORLO (edge in Italian) is latest and second creation of Versi Studio, an olfactive poetic mysticism trilogy from Mendittorosa exploring the relationship between poetry and perfumery.
Chapter 2, ORLO is inspired by Edge, a poem by Sylvia Plath.
The perfume is behaving like magic fiery serpent breathing intoxicating incense fumes and sending sweet citrus zest sparks as it progresses through a fantastic fragrant dimension.
Perfumer: Anne Sophie Baeghel
Genesis, Concept and Creative Design: Stefania Squeglia
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Orlo suits the charged quiet after an intense conversation, when the room has emptied but the words remain. Bright citrus cuts through the incense-dark atmosphere, lending alertness to a woody, leather-like presence that feels deliberate rather than sociable.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on skin in cool or mild weather, allowing the citrus opening to settle into the resinous, woody character. A restrained application suits close quarters; in warmer conditions, use less so the incense and oud do not overwhelm the brighter accents.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to bitter citrus, incense and textured woods rather than soft sweetness. Its leather-like edge and literary concept will appeal to wearers who enjoy tension in a fragrance: brightness against shadow, sharpness against resinous warmth.

The nose
Anne-Sophie Behaghel is a co-founder of the independent Parisian fragrance studio Flair. Her work combines inventive contrasts with a strong sense of texture, spanning unconventional niche compositions and more immediately approachable scents. For Orlo, she translated Mendittorosa’s literary and emotional brief into perfume.
Collaborators
Stefania Squeglia conceived Orlo and directed its creative design, choosing Anne-Sophie Behaghel from the outset to interpret her vision. Her contribution established the fragrance’s connection to Sylvia Plath and the emotional framework of the second Versi chapter.
Mendittorosa’s story
Mendittorosa treats fragrance as an independent artwork, connecting scent with emotional experience and an individual visual identity. Small-scale production, artistic freedom and collaboration with Italian artisans shape the house, whose wood, metal, stone and ceramic presentations are integral to its creative language.
Orlo’s concept
Orlo is the second chapter of Versi, Mendittorosa’s exploration of poetry through perfume, following Ithaka. Its inspiration is Sylvia Plath’s poem “Edge.” Rather than offering a literal illustration, the concept explores vulnerability, inner struggle and the search for light within darkness.
Extra info
Orlo means “edge” in Italian, echoing the title of its source poem. The eau de parfum is specified at 20% concentration, and Orlo is explicitly included in the house’s December 2025 ICEA vegan product certificate.
