The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:
Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.
Sloth is beautifully slow green perfume. The formula is lazily climbing from the dark green of moss, hay and in the base – up – towards bright green of marigold and herbs in the top.
Sloth suits an afternoon with no urgent destination: a book left open, tea cooling nearby, rain darkening the trees outside. Chamomile gives the scene a familiar softness, while mushroom and moss keep it earthy and slightly untamed rather than conventionally comforting.
How to wear

Prin Lomros is a Thai independent perfumer behind PRIN, Prissana and Strangers Parfumerie. His work often explores contrasts between familiar comforts and more challenging earthy, smoky or animalic textures. For Sloth, he translated a brief about slowing down into an unconventional herbal-green composition.
Collaborators
Zoologist founder Victor Wong developed the concept and creative direction, asking Prin Lomros for a fragrance centered on relaxation rather than energy or seduction. His chamomile-tea ritual and interest in rainforest sloths supplied the herbal starting point and habitat imagery.
Zoologist’s story
Founded in Toronto by Victor Wong, Zoologist interprets animals through their habitats, behavior and smells rather than simply attaching animal names to conventional perfumes. Its compositions embrace beauty, playfulness and occasional discomfort. The house uses synthetic alternatives to animal-derived musks, although Sloth contains beeswax.
Sloth’s concept
Sloth began with Victor Wong’s desire for a perfume that suggested slowing down. Evening chamomile tea and vanilla-lavender candles inspired the initial herbal direction; a documentary about rainforest sloths supplied the mossy canopy setting. Lomros developed these ideas into a composition moving between bright herbs and darker moss, hay and earthy woodland textures.

Despite its sleepy animal inspiration, Sloth gave some people an unexpectedly formal impression: Victor Wong recalled being told he smelled like a well-dressed executive while wearing it. The formula also contains beeswax, so the house’s avoidance of animal-derived musks does not make this fragrance vegan.
